Los Angeles Kings (22-16-13-6) at New Jersey Devils (29-16-10-1), 2 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils try to stay on the winning track
today when they welcome the Los Angeles Kings to the Meadowlands.
The Devils halted a three-game losing streak on Saturday, as they defeated the
Carolina Hurricanes, 4-1. Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta each had a goal and an
assist for New Jersey. Gomez halted a 15-game goal-scoring drought.
Jeff Friesen and Mike Rupp also scored for New Jersey, which also snapped a
two-game skid on home ice. Martin Brodeur stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced
for the win.
The Devils have 69 points and currently hold the sixth position in the Eastern
Conference playoff race. New Jersey is nine points behind Philadelphia for the
top spot in the Atlantic Division.

The Kings were dealt a humbling 8-3 loss in Buffalo on Friday evening. Maxim
Afinogenov scored twice and Ales Kotalik delivered a career-high three points
to lead the Sabres at HSBC Arena.
Jozef Stumpel and Scott Barney both registered a goal and an assist for the
Kings, who suffered their second straight setback. Ian Laperriere also scored,
while Roman Cechmanek took the loss in net as he stopped just 17-of-22 shots
before giving way to Cristobal Huet.
Los Angeles, which suffered its first regulation loss on the road in seven
games (4-1-1-1), fell to 1-7-1 in its last nine games in Buffalo.
The Kings are currently in the playoff picture with 63 points, placing them
seventh in the Western Conference. However, it is a tight race and they are
just one point ahead of Nashville and St. Louis and only one behind Dallas.
LA completes its seven-game road trip on Monday against the New York
New Jersey has won three of the last six meetings and has outscored the Kings,
21-9, in the previous six tilts. However, LA has won two straight and four of
its last five at the Meadowlands.
