Washington Capitals (17-31-6-2) at Nashville Predators (26-21-6-2), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The playoff-minded Nashville Predators try to halt a three- game losing streak tonight when they welcome the Washington Capitals to Gaylord Entertainment Center.

With 60 points, the Predators are currently tied with St. Louis for eighth place in the Western Conference -- three behind Los Angeles and four back of Calgary and Dallas.

The Preds' latest defeat was Wednesday's 5-2 loss in Chicago. The Blackhawks' Alex Zhamnov finished with a goal and an assist to help his club play a spoiler role.

Denis Arkhipov and Adam Hall scored for the Predators, who have dropped four of their last six matches overall. Chicago scored five consecutive goals after falling behind, 1-0.

The Predators, who have never qualified for the playoffs since entering the NHL in 1998, have lost two straight at home on the heels of a 9-0-2 run. Nashville will host Edmonton on Sunday.

Washington, meanwhile, is 0-1-1 in its last two after winning three-of-four. On Thursday the Caps skated to a 3-3 tie in Carolina, as the Hurricanes' Pavel Brendl scored with just over five minutes left to force the deadlock.

Olaf Kolzig posted a strong 38 saves for the Capitals, who are 3-2-1 in the last six overall. Mike Grier, Jeff Halpern and Anson Carter all scored for Washington, which recorded all three of its goals on special teams.

The Capitals are now 2-5-2-1 in their last 10 road games.

On the injury front, defenseman Sergei Gonchar remains day-to-day with a shoulder injury that has sidelined him for seven games.

Washington will visit Chicago on Sunday.

Washington is 2-0-1 in the last three meetings with Nashville, although the Caps are 0-1-1 in their last two trips to the Music City.
