Chicago Blackhawks (12-25-7-5) at Columbus Blue Jackets (12-25-7-3), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The two worst teams in the Western Conference skate tonight
in Columbus, as the Blue Jackets host the Chicago Blackhawks for the back end
of a home-and-home at Nationwide Arena.
Both teams have recorded 36 points this season, Chicago pulled even with a 7-0
win over the Blue Jackets at the United Center Thursday night. Craig Anderson
earned his first career victory with 30 saves to lead Chicago to the
Steve Sullivan, Mark Bell, Tyler Arnason and Igor Korolev each posted a goal
and an assist for the Blackhawks, who recorded a season-high in goals to snap
a five-game losing streak and win for the third time in 12 games (3-7-0-2).
Travis Moen, Bryan Berard and Ryan VandenBussche also scored.
Stephane Robidas and Nathan Dempsey each had two assists for Chicago, which
won for the first time this season against the Blue Jackets after consecutive
losses. The Blackhawks improved to 7-1-1 all-time against Columbus at the
Chicago last won by seven goals on March 16, 1995 (9-2 over Vancouver).
The Blackhawks are still trying to break out of a road slump, in which they
are 0-15-0-1 in their last 16 such contests. Overall, Chicago, which hasn't
won on the road since November 7, is 3-18-3-1 on foreign ice this season.
Columbus is 2-2-3 in its last seven contests, including Thursday's ugly
defeat. Blue Jackets backup goalie Fred Brathwaite stopped 32 shots for the
Blue Jackets, who lost for the first time in four games (2-1-1).
The Blue Jackets went 0-for-2 on the power play.
Columbus left wing Rick Nash was placed on the Western Conference All-Star
team. Nash, 19, leads the league in goals with 28 and will be the first
teenager to play in the All-Star Game since Jaromir Jagr and Owen Nolan in
Columbus is 4-4-3-0 under interim head coach Gerard Gallant.
The Blue Jackets have won two of three meetings between these teams this
season. However, Chicago has won five of the last nine contests in this
