Thursday, January 15th (All times eastern)

Phoenix Coyotes (16-13-12-2) at Nashville Predators (20-16-6-2), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators hope to extend their unbeaten streak to five games tonight when they host the Phoenix Coyotes at Gaylord Entertainment Center.

The Predators are coming off a scoreless tie with the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Roman Cechmanek stopped all 29 shots he faced for Los Angeles and Chris Mason did not allow a goal on 33 shots for Nashville.

Mason recorded the first shutout in only the 14th game of his three-year career. The last time Nashville was involved in a 0-0 tie was March 21, 2001 against the Minnesota Wild.

Nashville ended 0-for-8 on the power play, while the Kings could not score on four chances with the extra skater.

There have been three other 0-0 ties in the NHL this season, two of which came on the same night. On October 16, the Atlanta Thrashers and New York Rangers ended scoreless and the Flyers and Sharks played 65 minutes without a goal. Also, on November 23, the Lightning and Hurricanes skated to a 0-0 deadlock.

Coyotes goaltender Brian Boucher looked human on Tuesday night, as the Vancouver Canucks dealt Phoenix a 4-1 win at Glendale Arena. Markus Naslund finished with two goals and an assist to lead Vancouver.

Brian Savage scored for the Coyotes, who were unbeaten in their previous six (5-0-1). Boucher, who had his NHL-record, five-game shutout streak snapped Sunday in a 1-1 tie with Atlanta, stopped 16 shots.

Boucher also had his 10-game unbeaten steak snapped (6-0-4) in the loss. The Coyotes will turn to Sean Burke to take over the goaltending duties tonight. It will be Burke's first appearance since December 29 against the Rangers.

Phoenix, 5-0-4 in its last nine games as the visitor, opens a brief road trip tonight before traveling to Detroit on Friday. The Coyotes have 46 points and are tied with Dallas for second place in the Pacific Division. The Sharks are in first with 51 points.

Nashville is 1-0-1 against the Coyotes this season, but Phoenix is 7-2-1 in the last 10 matchups.
