Dallas Stars (13-15-4-0) at Florida Panthers (10-15-7-1), 7:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - Having hopefully turned a corner, the Dallas Stars try to
go unbeaten in four straight tonight when they visit the Florida Panthers at
the Office Depot Center.
Since a five-game losing streak, the Stars are 2-0-1, including Wednesday's
3-1 victory over visiting Vancouver. Bill Guerin and Rob DiMaio scored third-
period goals to lift Dallas over the first-place Canucks.
Guerin and Jason Arnott each finished with a goal and an assist for the Stars,
who scored more than two goals for the first time since November 26. Marty
Turco made 22 saves in the victory, as Dallas improved to 9-3-0 this season
when finding the net first.
Dallas has enjoyed success in the state of Florida in the past six years,
going 8-1 in its last nine road games against either the Panthers or
Lightning. That includes a 4-1 mark in Sunrise. The Stars have allowed two
goals or less in all nine of their games played in the Sunshine State since
Dallas, 0-4-1 in its last five away contests, opens a three-game swing tonight
and will visit the Lightning on Saturday.
Florida, meanwhile, is 1-3-5-1 in its last 10 games, including Wednesday's 2-2
tie with visiting Washington. Stephen Weiss scored on the power play midway
through the third period to force the deadlock.
Valeri Bure also scored and Roberto Luongo stopped 25 shots for the Panthers,
who are winless in their last three (0-1-2).
The Panthers, 5-7-4-1 at home, will visit Ottawa on Monday.
Florida and Dallas split two meetings last season, and the Panthers have won
three of the last five times the clubs have met.
