Wednesday, December 10th (All times eastern)

Dallas Stars (11-14-3-0) at Phoenix Coyotes (9-10-7-1), 9 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars attempt to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak this evening when they travel to the desert to battle the Phoenix Coyotes.

Marty Turco made 33 saves for the Stars in Sunday's 4-0 setback in Anaheim. Dallas has been shut out twice during its slide and has notched just two goals during the slide.

Tonight's game is the final test of a four-game road trip for the Stars, who have just one win in their last 10 road games (1-8-1). Dallas then begins a home-and-home series against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.

The Stars will have to play tonight without defenseman Richard Matvichuk (knee) and center Jason Arnott (groin). Arnott has missed the last three games, but skated Monday and could make his return in Friday's game. Matvichuk missed Sunday's tilt and it is uncertain when he will be available.

The Coyotes are coming off a 2-2 tie with the lowly Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night at the United Center. Shane Doan's power-play goal with 1:07 remaining in regulation helped the Coyotes salvage the point. It was the final game of a five-game road trip for Phoenix, which went 2-1-2 in the swing.

Jeff Taffe scored the other Coyotes goal, but Brian Boucher was the star for Phoenix, turning aside 37 of the 39 shots he faced, including an amazing eight stops in overtime.

The Stars and Coyotes are fighting for position at the bottom of the tight Pacific Division. Dallas is in last place with 25 points and the Coyotes are just one point ahead. Los Angeles leads the division with 31 points.

This is the third meeting of the season between these two teams with both previous contests coming in Dallas. They played to a 3-3 tie on November 14 and then Dallas skated to a 5-2 victory on November 24.

The Stars are unbeaten in the last eight meetings (5-0-3) with Phoenix. They also have just two losses in the previous 11 matchups (7-2-2) at America West Arena.
