(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes try to snap a two-game losing streak
tonight when they close a two-game road trip in Dallas against the Stars at
Phoenix was blanked for the second time in as many games on Sunday, as it
found itself on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision against the Atlanta Thrashers.
Brian Boucher stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced, but the Coyotes fell to
1-2-2 in their last five games.
The Coyotes, who have not scored since Brian Savage's goal at the 18:15 mark
of the third period on Wednesday, are winless in their last nine games away
from home (0-4-4-1).
Phoenix also matched a season low Sunday with just 21 shots on goal.
The Coyotes will return home to face the Los Angeles Kings on Thanksgiving
Day. However, 10 of their next 14 will be on the road, where they are 2-4-4-1
on the season.
Dallas, meanwhile, also comes in on a down note after falling to the Blues,
2-1, on Saturday. Marty Turco made 22 saves for the Stars, who have just one
win over their last nine games (1-6-2).
Dallas had snapped a seven-game winless streak on Friday against Los Angeles.
Bill Guerin netted the lone goal for the Stars in Saturday's loss, his first
away from home this season. Guerin, who leads Dallas with 12 goals and 20
points, has nine goals and 16 points in his last 12 games.
However, captain Mike Modano and defenseman Sergei Zubov have struggled.
Modano has just five goals and six assists, and is a minus-15 in 21 games.
Zubov has just one goal and is a minus-13. Modano and Zubov finished the
2002-03 season at plus-34 and plus-21, respectively.
Saturday's setback was only the third time in the last 14 games that the Stars
have scored first.
Dallas skated to a tie with the Coyotes earlier in the season and is unbeaten
in the last seven meetings (4-0-3). Phoenix is also just 1-3-3 in their last
seven trips to the Lone Star State.
