Dallas Stars (7-6-1-0) at Boston Bruins (6-2-3-2), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins try for their first home win of the
season tonight they welcome the Dallas Stars to the FleetCenter.
On Thursday, Sergei Samsonov scored with just 13.4 seconds left in regulation
to lift the Bruins to a 5-5 tie with the San Jose Sharks in a thrilling match
Mike Knuble registered a goal and two assists for Boston, which has earned a
point in each of its last five games (2-0-1-2), but fell to 0-1-2-1 on home-
ice this season. Glen Murray, Ian Moran and Patrice Bergeron also scored in
the contest, while Bruins' goaltender Felix Potvin looked shaky as he allowed
five goals on 23 shots.
The Bruins close their three-game homestand on Tuesday against the Edmonton
Dallas, meanwhile, comes into tonight's contest on a losing note after falling
to the New York Islanders, 4-1, on Thursday.
Brenden Morrow scored the lone goal for Dallas, which has lost two straight.
The Stars, who were shut out by the Rangers on Tuesday, have scored just once
in their last two games after a 7-3 win over Nashville on Sunday.
Marty Turco stopped 19 shots in defeat and has allowed three goals in four of
his last five starts.
Reigning NHL Offensive Player of the Week Bill Guerin, a former Bruin, has
gone two straight games without a goal. He had posted six tallies and four
assists in the four matches before Tuesday's setback at Madison Square Garden.
Dallas, which failed to cash in on two-power-play chances, is 0-for-10 with
the extra skater in its last five road games and hasn't scored with the man-
advantage on the road since the third period in Buffalo on October 13.
On the injury front, defenseman Philippe Boucher left Thursday's contest with
a bruised leg and is questionable for tonight's contest.
The Stars, who are 2-4-1 away from home this season, return to the Lone Star
state on Wednesday when they host the Detroit Red Wings.
Boston blanked the Stars in the lone meeting between the two teams last
season, but is just 1-6-3 versus Dallas in the last 10 matchups. The Stars
have also had some recent success in Beantown, where they are unbeaten in
the last four (3-0-1).
