NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, November 8th (All times eastern)

Florida Panthers (4-7-1) at Phoenix Coyotes (5-6-0), 9 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers will try to halt a five-game losing streak tonight, when they visit the Phoenix Coyotes for an interconference battle at Jobing.com Arena.

The Panthers are 0-4-1 during the slide and their last win came on October 24 against visiting San Jose. Florida came into Saturday with nine points -- tied with the New York Islanders for the lowest total in the Eastern Conference.

The three most recent setbacks have come at the start of five-game road trip for the Panthers, who are just 1-5-1 as the visiting team this season.

Florida's latest setback came Thursday in Los Angeles. Dustin Brown's goal with 8:37 left in the third period proved to be the eventual game-winner, as the Kings held on for the 3-2 win at the Staples Center.

Anthony Stewart and Nathan Horton scored the goals for Florida, while Tomas Vokoun had 29 saves in the losing effort.

The Panthers will complete their swing Sunday evening with a stop in Anaheim.

Phoenix, meanwhile, has dropped two of three games to begin the month of November and are coming off Thursday's frustrating loss at Vancouver. Kevin Bieksa scored the game's lone goal, and Roberto Luongo made 28 saves in his 42nd career shutout, as the Canucks blanked the Coyotes, 1-0, at General Motors Place.

Despite the loss, Ilya Bryzgalov was sensational in net, stopping 31-of-32 shots for Phoenix, which has dropped six of its last nine. The Coyotes could not convert on any of their three power-play opportunities.

The Coyotes are now back home for the first of two straight in Glendale. Phoenix is 3-2-0 as the host this season, but has been dealt losses in two of its last three home contests.

Florida has taken two of the last three encounters with the Coyotes.
