Florida Panthers (6-7-0) at Carolina Hurricanes (7-3-3), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes will play their second straight game against the Florida Panthers tonight, when they host their Southeast Division rivals at the RBC Center.
The Hurricanes dropped a 4-2 decision at Florida on Wednesday night. However, this is not considered to be a home-and-home series because the Panthers played a game in between as they visited Buffalo on Friday evening.
Olli Jokinen had a goal and two assists to lead Florida to the win over the Hurricanes earlier this week.
Erik Cole had a goal and assist, and goaltender Cam Ward had 28 saves for the Hurricanes, who lost for the second time in five games.
Carolina is 3-1-1 as the host team this season and is beginning a three-game homestand tonight. The 'Canes will also welcome Washington and Tampa Bay during the stretch.
Meanwhile, the Panthers will shoot for their third consecutive victory tonight after posting a victory in Buffalo on Friday. Richard Zednik scored twice as Florida downed the Sabres, 4-2, at HSBC Arena.
Radek Dvorak and Olli Jokinen each scored a goal while Tomas Vokoun stopped 26 shots for the Panthers, who won three in a row earlier this year from October 11-16.
Florida, which is just 2-5-0 as the visitor this season, is completing a brief two-game road trip tonight. The Panthers will next host Tampa Bay on Monday in the opener of a home-and-home series.
Florida snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Hurricanes with the win on Wednesday. Carolina has still taken eight of the last 10 meetings overall and the Panthers haven't won in Raleigh since December 6, 2002. Florida is 0-11-1 (1 tie) in its last 12 trips to the RBC Center.
