(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes shoot for a third straight victory tonight, when they welcome the Florida Panthers to the RBC Center.
The Hurricanes, the defending Stanley Cup champs, are coming off Saturday's triumph over the New York Islanders and a win in Toronto on Tuesday.
In Tuesday's game, Cam Ward stopped 29 shots to pick up his 20th win of the season and Carolina upended the Maple Leafs, 4-1, at Air Canada Centre.
Ray Whitney and Cory Stillman notched two assists apiece for the Hurricanes, who have strung together the back-to-back victories on the heels of a three- game losing streak.
Scott Walker, Eric Belanger, Eric Staal and Justin Williams lit the lamp for the 'Canes.
Carolina, which is tied for fifth in the Eastern Conference with 50 points, begins a brief two-game homestand tonight. The Hurricanes, who are 12-7-1 in Raleigh this year, will also welcome Atlanta on Saturday.
The Panthers ended a three-game losing streak Wednesday, as they defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins. Olli Jokinen recorded his third career hat trick to lead Florida to the 5-2 victory at BankAtlantic Center.
Jozef Stumpel netted a goal and added two assists for the Panthers. Alex Auld got the start between the pipes for Florida and made 23 saves, while Martin Gelinas added a goal and two helpers in the victory.
The Hurricanes are 2-1 against Florida this season and have taken eight of the last 11 matchups in the series.
