(Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks will try to snap a three-game losing streak this evening when they welcome the St. Louis Blues to General Motors Place.
The Canucks' latest setback came Tuesday evening against red-hot Detroit as Johan Franzen's short-handed goal in the third period lifted the Red Wings to a 3-2 win.
Henrik Sedin and Kevin Bieksa scored for the Canucks, who have dropped six of their last seven games overall. Roberto Luongo made 30 saves in the losing effort.
Vancouver, which is 3-5-0 as the host this year, is playing the fifth test of a six-game homestand this evening. The Canucks will wrap up the residency Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Blues, meanwhile, have dropped two straight and eight of their last 10 contests. They were in action on Thursday in Edmonton and wound up on the wrong side of a 6-2 game. Marc-Andre Bergeron scored two goals and Ales Hemsky added three assists to lead the Oilers.
Keith Tkachuk and Ryan Johnson scored the goals for the Blues. Manny Legace and Jason Bacashihua split time between the pipes in the loss. Legace was pulled at 1:18 in the second period, allowing four goals on just 15 shots while Bacashihua made 13 saves.
The Blues are playing the third test of a five-game road trip tonight in Vancouver. St. Louis is just 1-6-1 away from home this season.
St. Louis has won five of the last eight meetings with the Canucks and has taken two straight in Vancouver.
