New York Islanders (17-15-2) at Buffalo Sabres (24-11-1), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres hope to remain on track tonight when they welcome the New York Islanders to HSBC Arena.
Buffalo had a seven-game winning streak ended in a loss to Florida on Thursday, but bounced back the next night with a 4-1 win in Tampa. Thomas Vanek scored the first of four straight Buffalo goals and Ryan Miller made 30 saves to anchor the effort.
Henrik Tallinder contributed a goal and an assist for the Sabres. Chris Drury and Ales Kotalik also scored for the Sabres, who concluded a three-game road trip.
The Sabres are second in the Northeast Division with 49 points -- two behind first-place Ottawa.
Buffalo, which is 11-5-1 on home ice, plays seven of its next eight at HSBC Arena starting tonight. The Sabres will visit Toronto on Thursday.
New York, meanwhile, has lost two of its last three games. On Friday the Isles dropped a 4-2 tilt to visiting Ottawa. Mark Parrish had a goal and an assist and Rick DiPietro stopped 22 shots for the Islanders. Jason Blake added his 15th tally of the season for New York.
The Senators scored three goals in the first period within a 2:42 span to take command of the contest early.
The Islanders, who are 9-8-1 on the road, will host the rival Rangers on Wednesday.
Buffalo is 3-0 against New York this season after losing seven consecutive meetings in the series.
