Florida Panthers (13-19-4) at Carolina Hurricanes (22-9-2), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes attempt to post their third shutout of the season against Florida tonight when they welcome the Panthers to the RBC Center.
The Canes defeated the Cats, 2-0, on November 5 and 1-0 six days later. Martin Gerber was in net for both blankings.
Fast forward, the Hurricanes will try to post a perfect five-game homestand with a win tonight. On Tuesday, Matt Cullen broke a tie game early in the third period and Eric Staal netted two goals and added an assist, as the Hurricanes defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 6-4, at RBC Center.
Justin Williams had a goal and two assists while Erik Cole contributed a goal and a helper for the Hurricanes. Gerber finished with 20 saves for Carolina.
Rod Brind'Amour extended his points streak to five games, having posted four goals and two assists during the run.
The Hurricanes, who improved to 13-4-0 on home ice, will visit Tampa Bay on Monday.
Florida, meanwhile, has won four of its last five games. On Thursday, Jozef Stumpel scored a pair of goals and assisted on another, while Roberto Luongo made 27 saves to lead a 4-1 victory over Buffalo at BankAtlantic Center.
Rostislav Olesz and Olli Jokinen each recorded a goal and an assist to help the Panthers win their second straight game.
Florida's Nathan Horton posted an assist and stretched his point streak to six games (5g, 3a).
The Panthers, who are 3-13-3 on the road, will host Philadelphia on Monday.
Florida is 0-4-1 (4 losses, 1 tie) in their last five trips to Raleigh.
