(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks will try to keep their winning ways with Joe Thornton alive tonight, as they visit the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the opener of a home-and-home series at the Arrowhead Pond.
This Friday, Thornton registered a goal and an assist to lead the Sharks past the Washington Capitals, 4-1, at HP Pavilion.
Jonathan Cheechoo and Milan Michalek both notched goals and Evgeni Nabokov made 25 saves for the Sharks, who have won six straight since a 10-game losing streak.
Alyn McCauley tallied his eighth of the year and Scott Thornton tallied two assists for San Jose, which hasn't lost since acquiring Joe Thornton from Boston on November 30.
The Sharks are still in last place in the Pacific Division, but are just two points behind Anaheim and Phoenix.
Meanwhile, the Ducks were handed a shootout loss on Friday. Pavol Demitra and Alexander Frolov each lit the lamp during the shootout session to lift the Kings to a 4-3 win at the Pond.
Joffrey Lupul had a goal and an assist for the Mighty Ducks, who have lost two of their last three games.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 34 saves in defeat.
The Ducks are 11-6-3 at home this season, while San Jose is 6-9-2 as the visiting team.
The Sharks have won five straight and 14 of the last 20 over the Ducks. San Jose has also won three in a row in Anaheim.
