NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Monday, December 5th (All times eastern)

Atlanta Thrashers (10-14-3) at Phoenix Coyotes (14-12-2), 9 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers will try to avoid their second four- game losing streak of the season, as they visit the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at Glendale Arena.

The Thrashers also dropped a season-high four in a row from October 12-20.

The latest setback came Saturday in Anaheim. Andy McDonald's power-play goal with 4:29 left to play lifted the Ducks to the 2-1 victory.

Brad Larsen had the lone tally for the Thrashers, while Michael Garnett finished with 26 saves in defeat.

Tonight marks the middle test of a three-game road trip for Atlanta. The Thrashers are 5-7-2 as the visiting team this season.

Meanwhile, the Coyotes have won three of their last four games, including an 8-4 victory over Carolina on Saturday night. Ladislav Nagy had a hat trick and two assists and Mike Johnson tallied two goals and an assist to lead Phoenix to the lopsided win at Glendale Arena.

Mike Comrie had a goal and two assists and Geoff Sanderson and Zbynek Michalek notched a goal each for Phoenix.

The eight goals tied the most for the franchise in a game since it moved from Winnipeg to Phoenix after the 1995-96 season.

Curtis Joseph made 25 saves for the Coyotes.

Phoenix, which is 8-5-1 at home this year, end a brief two-game stand tonight.

This is the first and only meeting of the season between the Thrashers and Coyotes. Phoenix has just one loss in nine all-time meetings (7-1-1) with Atlanta.
