Colorado Avalanche (11-8-3) at Columbus Blue Jackets (5-17-0), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Columbus Blue Jackets try to snap a six-game losing streak tonight when they welcome the Colorado Avalanche to Nationwide Arena.
The Blue Jackets enter the day with the league's worst record, having managed a meager 10 points. They are also last in the NHL with 40 goals scored.
On Wednesday, Columbus dropped a 4-2 tilt to Nashville, as Predators backup goaltender Chris Mason frustrated the Jackets with 35 saves.
Nikolai Zherdev and Manny Malhotra notched goals for the Blue Jackets, while Pascal Leclaire made 37 saves in the defeat.
Regular Columbus starter Marc Denis was placed on injured reserve Thursday with a groin injury.
The Blue Jackets have yet to win with Sergei Fedorov in the lineup, after the former Hart Trophy winner was acquired from Anaheim last week. Fedorov has two assists in four games since the trade.
Columbus will visit St. Louis on Saturday.
Colorado, meanwhile, has lost its last three games (0-2-1). On Wednesday the Avs dropped a 7-3 tilt to the host Red Wings. Mikael Samuelsson recorded the first four-point game of his career to lead Detroit.
Andrew Brunette, Ian Laperriere and John-Michael Liles each scored for the Avalanche, while Peter Budaj stopped 22 shots.
The Avs, who are 5-5-0 on the road, will host Vancouver on Sunday.
Colorado went 3-1 against Columbus in 2003-04, and is 14-1-1 in the all-time series. The only Blue Jackets' win came on February 28, 2004.
