Washington Capitals (14-24-5) at Phoenix Coyotes (22-21-2), 4 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes try to win their third consecutive win today when they welcome the Washington Capitals to Glendale Arena.
On Saturday, Fredrik Sjostrom netted the game-winning goal early in the third period and the Phoenix Coyotes scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-3, at the Air Canada Centre.
Geoff Sanderson had a goal and an assist and Ladislav Nagy and Paul Mara each scored for the Coyotes, who finished their three-game road trip with consecutive wins over Buffalo and Toronto. Shane Doan added three assists in the win.
Curtis Joseph, playing against one of his former teams, made 25 saves in the victory for Phoenix.
The Coyotes, who are 11-9-1 at home, begins a three-game homestand today and will host Florida on Thursday.
Washington, meanwhile, ended a six-game losing streak with a 3-2 overtime victory in Anaheim. Alexander Ovechkin netted his first career hat trick, including the game-winner in OT, to lead the Capitals.
Dainius Zubrus and Chris Clark each had two assists and Brent Johnson made 32 saves for the Capitals, who picked up their first win of 2006.
Ovechkin extended his point streak to five games, checking in with six goals and three assists during the run.
The Capitals, who are 5-13-1 on the road, will begin a three-game homestand on Thursday against St. Louis.
The Coyotes have won two straight meetings against the Caps, and are 3-1-2 (1 loss, 2 ties) in the last six clashes overall.
