(Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators hope to keep their perfect November intact tonight when they welcome the Buffalo Sabres to the Corel Centre.
The Sens are 4-0 this month, after splitting their final four games of October. On Thursday, Dany Heatley scored two goals as the Senators defeated the Boston Bruins, 5-2, at TD Banknorth Garden.
Peter Schaefer and Martin Havlat each had a goal and an assist while Bryan Smolinski also scored for the Senators, who are second in the Northeast Division standings behind Montreal.
Dominik Hasek, who was peppered with 17 shots in the first period, made 37 saves in the victory.
Heatley has posted a point in all 14 games this season, racking up 13 goals and 13 assists. Jason Spezza, meanwhile, has two goals and 17 assists during his own 10-game tear.
Ottawa, which is 9-0 within its division, will host Carolina on Tuesday.
The Sabres, meanwhile, come in on a high as they ended a four-game skid with Friday's 5-2 win over Toronto. Tim Connolly scored two goals and Martin Biron made 27 saves to lead Buffalo's effort.
Chris Drury and Mike Grier tallied a goal each and defenseman Dmitri Kalinin had two assists for Buffalo.
Defense and goaltending had been an issue for the Sabres, who were outscored by a 21-11 combined margin in their previous four tilts
The Sens have taken two games from the Sabres this season, outscoring them by a combined 15-4 margin. That includes a 10-4 trouncing on November 2 in Buffalo.
In that last meeting, Havlat and Daniel Alfredsson both recorded the first four-goal game of their respective careers to lead the Sens' effort.
