NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, November 11th (All times eastern)

Edmonton Oilers (8-8-1) at Columbus Blue Jackets (5-11-0), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers will try to get back on the winning track this evening when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

The Oilers had won five in a row, but have dropped two straight, including Tuesday's 3-2 loss in Nashville. Scott Hartnell got the game-winning goal with 22.5 seconds left in the game to lift the Predators.

Ryan Smyth and Jarret Stoll scored in defeat for the Oilers, while Jussi Markkanen had 24 saves.

Center Michael Peca missed his third straight game with a concussion. He is probable for Friday's contest.

It was the fourth game on a seven-game road trip for the Oilers, who are 5-6 away from Edmonton this season.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets halted a four-game losing streak on Wednesday after posting a 3-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

David Vyborny had two goals to lead Columbus to the win at Nationwide Arena. It was the first of four straight games in Columbus for the Blue Jackets, who are 4-3 at home this year.

Todd Marchant had the other goal and Manny Malhotra and Nikolai Zherdev each had two assists for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Marc Denis was 37 seconds away from a shutout, posting 24 saves on the night.

Vyborny has a six-game point streak going for Columbus and has five goals and three assists in the run. He is second on the team in points (10) to defenseman Bryan Berard (12).

The Oilers and Blue Jackets met earlier this month in Edmonton and the home team pounded out a 5-1 victory. Edmonton hasn't lost in 11 straight against Columbus, posting eight wins and three ties.

Edmonton is also unbeaten in its last six trips to Nationwide Arena (3 wins, 3 ties).
