Washington Capitals (13-23-5) at Dallas Stars (28-12-2), 8:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Pacific Division-leading Dallas Stars try to extend their winning streak to five games this evening when they welcome the sliding Washington Capitals to AmericanAirlines Center.

The Stars are currently first in the Pacific with 58 points and head into tonight with a two-point lead over the Los Angeles Kings. LA is also in action this evening against the Bruins.

Dallas last played on Monday and earned a victory in Minnesota. Philippe Boucher gained credit for the game-winning tally after a carom off the boards found its way into the net as the Stars defeated the Wild, 2-1, in St. Paul.

Jere Lehtinen notched his 23rd goal of the season and Johan Hedberg made 25 saves for Dallas.

Sergei Zubov registered two assists for the Stars and extended his point streak to seven games. Zubov has one goal and nine helpers during the run and leads Dallas defenseman with 33 points (5g, 28a).

The Stars, who are 13-8-1 at home this season, begin a two-game road trip in Boston on Saturday. They also visit Montreal during the brief swing.

Washington, meanwhile, has dropped five in a row, but the last two setbacks have come after regulation. On Tuesday, Kyle Calder scored in overtime to guide the Chicago Blackhawks past the Caps, 4-3, at the MCI Center.

Alexander Ovechkin had a goal and an assist while Brendan Witt and Brian Sutherby notched goals for the Capitals.

Ovechkin currently leads all rookies in goals scored (26) and points (51).

Washington forward Dainius Zubrus had a five-game point streak stopped. He had four goals and three assists during the run

Olaf Kolzig made 29 saves and has been on the losing end in all five of the losses during the current skid.

Washington, which is just 4-12-1 as the visitor, begins a three-game road trip tonight.

The Stars have won four straight in the series with Washington. The Caps have dropped two in a row and seven of eight in Dallas.
