(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to halt a three-game losing streak this evening when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
The Penguins dropped their third in a row Tuesday night, as Edmonton picked up a 3-1 victory at Mellon Arena. Shawn Horcoff notched his first career hat trick to carry the Oilers to the win, Edmonton's first in Pittsburgh since February 18, 1993.
Ryan Malone had the lone Pittsburgh goal while Josef Melichar and Mark Recchi picked up the assists for the Penguins, who have lost 10 of their last 13 and are tied with Washington for last place in the Eastern Conference.
Pittsburgh rookie Sidney Crosby was held off the scoresheet and had a 10-game point streak snapped.
The Penguins begin a three-game road trip this evening. They are just 5-11-4 as the visiting team this season.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets are coming off Sunday's victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. Bryan Berard recorded his first career hat trick and Rick Nash added a goal and an assist to lead Columbus to the easy win at Glendale Arena.
Nash has now scored goals in five straight games and has at least two points in four of his last five contests.
Rostislav Klesla added his third goal of the season and Marc Denis made 32 saves for Columbus, which snapped a three-game skid.
Sergei Fedorov added four assists for the Blue Jackets, giving him 600 in his career.
It was the first-ever win in Phoenix for the Columbus franchise.
Pittsburgh is 4-2 all-time against the Blue Jackets.
