(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers continue their current road trip tonight when they visit the Washington Capitals at the MCI Center.
Florida began a four-game trek on Saturday, falling 6-4, in Atlanta. Peter Bondra netted two goals and Marc Savard added a goal and two assists to lift the Thrashers.
Nathan Horton, Rob Globke, Jon Sim and Chris Gratton all tallied for Florida, which lost for the sixth time in the last nine games overall.
Goaltender Roberto Luongo allowed six goals on 27 shots in the loss.
Joe Nieuwendyk extended his point streak to six games (2g, 5a), while defenseman Jay Bouwmeester stretched his tear to five (0g, 6a).
Florida enters this tilt a horrid 6-19-4 on the road and will resume its trip on Saturday in Buffalo.
Washington, meanwhile, has lost five of its last seven contests after a season-high four-game winning streak. On Saturday the Caps dropped a 5-0 tilt in Tampa, as John Grahame made 29 saves for his fifth shutout of the season for the Lightning.
Brent Johnson made 32 saves in the loss for the Capitals, who were shut out for the second time this season.
The Capitals hope a return home gets them back on track, as they have won four of their last five tilts at the MCI Center.
Washington will visit Philadelphia on Friday.
Florida is 4-0 against Washington this season, and is 7-1-2 (1 loss, 2 ties) in the last 10 meetings overall.
