(Sports Network) - After a week off, the Philadelphia Flyers get back into the swing of things tonight when they visit the red-hot Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.
The break came as the Flyers went on a two-game winning streak with victories over the Penguins and Islanders. During its brief hiatus, Philadelphia went on a team-bonding mission up to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Last Saturday against New York, Michal Handzus scored twice and Simon Gagne added a power-play goal as the Flyers defeated the Islanders, 5-1, at the Wachovia Center.
Patrick Sharp scored with the man advantage, Kim Johnsson had an even-strength goal and Robert Esche made 19 saves as the Flyers won consecutive games for the first time this season. Mike Richards added two assists and Peter Forsberg increased his assist total to 10 in the win.
Gagne has tallied a goal in all five games this season, while Forsberg has posted an assist in each tilt.
Philadelphia will visit Montreal on Tuesday.
Toronto, meanwhile, has won four straight games since beginning the season with three consecutive losses. On Thursday, Ken Klee's power-play goal at 4:44 of overtime lifted the Maple Leafs to a 5-4 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes at the Air Canada Centre.
Darcy Tucker posted a goal and an assist and former Flyers captain Eric Lindros added a goal for the Maple Leafs. Toronto netminder Ed Belfour made 28 saves, including a key stop in the extra session.
Belfour picked up the 438th win of his career, moving him past Jacques Plante into sole possession of third place on the all-time list. Belfour is now just nine wins away from tying Terry Sawchuk for second.
Lindros has scored a goal in four consecutive games and currently has six on the season.
Toronto will host Boston on Monday.
