(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks shoot for their third consecutive victory tonight when they welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to HP Pavilion.
Since falling in their first two contests, the Sharks have toppled St. Louis and Columbus. On Wednesday, Wayne Primeau scored two goals to lead San Jose past the Jackets, 4-1, at the HP Pavilion.
Marco Sturm and Scott Thornton also scored for the Sharks, and Jonathan Cheechoo added two assists.
Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov allowed just one goal on 27 shots, and helped denied Columbus on all six of its power-play chances.
The Sharks did continue struggling with its own power-play unit, going 0- for-8 versus Columbus. Overall this season, San Jose is only 3-for-26 with the man advantage.
The Sharks will begin a six-game road trip on Monday in Detroit.
Chicago, meanwhile, snapped a two-game losing skid on Friday. Tuomo Ruutu notched the game-winning shootout goal as the Blackhawks defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2, at the Pepsi Center.
Ruutu, Tyler Arnason and Pavel Vorobiev all scored in the shootout for Chicago, while Alex Tanguay tallied for Colorado. On the second shot for the Avs, Marek Svatos tried to beat Nikolai Khabibulin high, but missed the net completely.
Jaroslav Spacek and Kyle Calder scored goals and Khabibulin had 27 saves for Chicago, which defeated Colorado for the first time since February 9, 2002.
On the injury front, Blackhawks defenseman Adrian Aucoin sat out Friday due to a groin injury. He could be back in the lineup this evening.
Chicago will visit Vancouver on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks posted a 6-3 win over the Sharks on October 7 at the United Center and are 6-4-3 in the last 13 meetings.
