(Sports Network) - The New York Islanders try to bounce back tonight when they welcome the New Jersey Devils to Nassau Coliseum
The Isles had a two-game winning streak broken on Monday, losing 5-2 in Washington. Rookie sensation Alexander Ovechkin scored twice to lift the Capitals.
Arron Asham and Joel Bouchard scored for the Islanders, while Garth Snow finished with 28 saves between the pipes.
The Islanders, with, 58 points, are 12th in the Eastern Conference standings -- nine behind the Montreal Canadiens for eighth place.
New York will host Toronto on Friday before beginning a five-game road trip the following night in Boston.
New Jersey, meanwhile, has won six of its last nine games. On Saturday, Scott Gomez had a goal and an assist and Martin Brodeur made 26 saves to lift the Devils over the New York Rangers, 2-1, at Continental Airlines Arena.
Brian Gionta also had a goal and an assist for the Devils, who have won two of three games since the Olympic break.
Brodeur registered his 30th win of the season, extending his NHL record streak of consecutive 30-win seasons to 10.
With 71 points, the Devils are sixth in the Eastern Conference -- seven behind No. 5 Philadelphia in the race.
Jersey will visit Washington on Friday.
The Islanders are 4-2 against the Devils this season and have won seven of the last 10 meetings overall.
