New York Islanders (30-25-10-3) at St. Louis Blues (31-26-9-2), 8 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The New York Islanders try to get back on the winning track tonight when they visit the St. Louis Blues at the Savvis Center.
The Islanders are winless in their last four games (0-2-1-1) and are currently eighth in the Eastern Conference. They are just six points ahead of Buffalo.
New York was handed a 4-2 setback by the Blues at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday. Keith Tkachuk scored the game-winning tally and assisted on another to lead the Blues.
Jason Blake and Mark Parrish tallied for the Islanders, while Rick DiPietro made only 14 saves on 17 shots for the loss.
Parrish tied the game for New York with 34 seconds left in the second period, but Tkachuk scored just 14 seconds later to put the Blues ahead for good.
The Islanders begin a five-game road trip tonight and will travel to San Jose on Thursday.
St. Louis has won two straight and is unbeaten in its last three contests. The Blues have played themselves back into the playoff race. They now have 73 points and are tied with Los Angeles for the eighth and final postseason spot in the West.
On Sunday, Petr Cajanek finished with a goal and two assists to lead St. Louis to a 5-1 win over Buffalo at HSBC Arena.
Chris Pronger and Pavol Demitra each notched a goal and an assist, while Reinhard Divis made 18 saves for the Blues, who extended their unbeaten streak in the series to 10 games (8-0-2). Dallas Drake and Mike Sillinger also scored.
Doug Weight finished with two assists for the Blues, who are unbeaten in seven straight trips to Buffalo (5-0-2). The Sabres last beat St. Louis on October 1, 1997.
St. Louis snapped out of its offensive slump after scoring just 12 goals in its previous eight games.
The Blues begin a four-game homestand tonight and will host Nashville on Thursday.
St. Louis has won two of the last three meetings with the Isles, but New York is unbeaten in the last five matchups in the Gateway City.
