St. Louis Blues (29-23-7-1) at Chicago Blackhawks (16-31-7-5), 3 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues try to get back on the winning track today as they continue their fight for a playoff spot against the host Chicago Blackhawks.
St. Louis had a three-game winning streak ended via Friday's 5-1 loss in Detroit. The Blues, with 66 points, are ninth in the Western Conference -- one behind Los Angeles. Only three points separate Joel Quenneville's club and the fifth-place Nashville Predators.
On Friday, Henrik Zetterberg scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Red Wings. Doug Weight scored the lone goal for the Blues, and Reinhard Divis made 33 saves, as St. Louis fell to 4-10-1 in its last 15 tries overall.
On the health front, St. Louis' Scott Mellanby and Christian Backman missed the game with the flu. Both are probable for this afternoon's action.
The Blues, who are 1-6-1 in their last eight road games, kicked off a five- game trip Friday and will visit Colorado on Thursday.
Chicago, meanwhile, has lost two straight on the heels of a three-game win streak. On Thursday the Hawks suffered a 6-3 pounding at the hands of visiting San Jose. Marco Sturm had a goal and two assists to lead the Sharks.
Tuomo Ruutu and Bryan Berard each had a goal and an assist for Chicago, which was playing its first game since making a pair of trades that sent away two of the team's leaders.
The Blackhawks dealt captain Alex Zhamnov earlier on Thursday to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Jim Vandermeer, center Colin Fraser and a second-round pick in 2004. The club also sent Steve Sullivan to the Nashville Predators last Monday for a pair of second-round draft picks.
Chicago, which has trailed after two periods in 32 of its 59 games this season (2-28-2), will visit Zhamnov and the Flyers on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks are 2-1 against the Blues this season, and 4-2-2 in the last eight meetings overall. St. Louis is 0-4-3 in its last seven trips to the Windy City.
