Buffalo Sabres (18-23-5-1) at Atlanta Thrashers (20-21-4-2), 7:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - Two days after ending their nine-game winless streak, the Atlanta Thrashers try to stay on the winning track tonight as the they host the Buffalo Sabres at Philips Arena.
Randy Robitaille scored twice to lead the Thrashers over the Carolina Hurricanes, 5-2, at the RBC Center in the finale of a home-and-home series on Sunday.
Zdenek Blatny and Daniel Tjarnqvist also scored for the Thrashers, who won for the first time in 10 games (1-7-1-1), while Ilya Kovalchuk recorded a goal and two assists.
Pasi Nurminen made 29 saves, including 15 in the final period for Atlanta, which was coming off Friday's 4-3 home loss to the Canes.
Atlanta finished 2-for-7 on the power play while Carolina was 1-for-5 with the extra skater.
Kovalchuk netted his 25th goal of the season, which ties him for second in the NHL with Vancouver's Markus Naslund.
Tonight's contest begins a three-game homestand for the Thrashers.
The Sabres are coming off Saturday's loss on Long Island. Cliff Ronning scored his first goal of the season to lead the New York Islanders to the 4-2 win.
Chris Taylor and James Patrick each scored a goal for the Sabres, who remained winless in their last five road games (0-4-1). Mika Noronen made 19 saves on 23 shots faced, but the setback dropped Buffalo to 2-4-2 in its last eight games overall.
The Sabres, 0-4-1 in their last five road games, continue with the second test of their five-game swing tonight.
Atlanta has won six of seven and seven of the last nine matchups with Buffalo. The Sabres have also dropped four in a row at Philips Arena.
