Mighty Ducks of Anaheim(13-18-7-5) at Colorado Avalanche (23-10-7-2), 9 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim try to halt a six-game winless streak tonight when they enter the Pepsi Center to battle Paul Kariya and the Colorado Avalanche.
The game will mark Kariya's first against his old team, after fleeing Anaheim via free agency last summer. In the first two meetings between the Avs and Ducks, Kariya was sidelined with a wrist injury. Kariya spent nine seasons in Orange County and helped lead Anaheim to the Stanley Cup Finals last spring.
The Mighty Ducks played to a 2-2 tie with the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Sunday. Rick Nash scored the tying goal in the third period and Marc Denis made 11 saves in overtime to lift the Blue Jackets.
Todd Simpson and Vitaly Vishnevski each scored for Anaheim, which is 0-3-3 in its last six.
Martin Gerber stopped 35-of-37 shots for the Mighty Ducks. Gerber did not feel much heat in the overtime, needing to make just one save.
Anaheim, which has just two wins in its last 17 road games (2-10-2-3), begins a three-game swing tonight.
Colorado picked up an exciting decision on Sunday night in Chicago. Alex Tanguay scored with 1:18 left in overtime as the Avalanche rallied to post a 5-4 win over the Blackhawks at the United Center.
Tanguay finished with a goal and an assist in the contest, as did John-Michael Liles, helping the Avalanche overcome an early three-goal deficit. Milan Hejduk, Steve Moore and Karlis Skrastins also scored for Colorado, which has picked up at least a point in seven straight games (6-0-0-1).
Peter Forsberg and Adam Foote each recorded two assists in the win. Forsberg now has at least one assist in his last six games (2g, 10a).
Each team has won a game in the season series with Colorado taking an overtime decision on November 18 in Denver and the Ducks posting a 1-0 victory on December 19 at the Pond.
The Mighty Ducks have taken four of the last six meetings, but are 3-5-2 in their last 10 trips to Colorado.
