(Sports Network) - The New York Rangers begin a brief road set tonight when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center.
New York has lost two of its last three games, including a 5-0 pounding at the hands of Calgary on Monday at Madison Square Garden. Jarome Iginla had a goal and two assists to lead the Flames' onslaught.
The Rangers, who currently reside in the eighth spot of the Eastern Conference, were shut out for the fourth time this season.
Jussi Markkanen started in net for New York and allowed three goals on 13 shots before being pulled following the first period. Mike Dunham made 12 saves over the final two periods.
New York, which has won five of its last eight on the road, will pay a visit to the rival Islanders on Saturday.
Carolina, meanwhile, ended a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over St. Louis on Tuesday. Kevin Weekes made 19 saves and earned his fifth shutout of the season to back the effort.
Kevyn Adams posted a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes, who have still lost five of their last eight games. Danny Markov scored his fourth goal in the victory.
Despite the victory, Carolina has scored just 15 goals in its last 12 outings. The Hurricanes remain without a double-digit goal scorer this season, as Josef Vasicek leads the club with nine.
The Canes, who have lost four of their last seven at home, wrap up a seven- game stand this evening. They'll visit Washington on Friday.
Carolina and New York are 1-1-1 against each other this campaign, as the Hurricanes snapped a six-game series winless string (0-5-1) with a 6-3 home victory on November 6.
