Dallas Stars (14-16-4-0) at Carolina Hurricanes (10-12-8-2), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars conclude a three-game road trip tonight when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center.
Dallas has split the first two portions of the trek, but is 3-1-1 in the last five overall. On Saturday the Stars posted a 2-1 decision in Tampa.
Brenden Morrow delivered a power-play goal late in the second period and Marty Turco turned away 26 shots, as the Stars ended a six-game road winless streak. Captain Mike Modano added a goal and an assist for Dallas, which sits six points off the pace of first-place Los Angeles in the Pacific Division race.
On the injury front, Stars defenseman Philippe Boucher posted two assists in his first contest since missing nine games with an eye injury.
The Stars killed off all seven of Tampa Bay's power plays Saturday and have successfully done the same to the last 26 man advantages they've faced. Anaheim's Joffrey Lupul netted a power play at the 4:47 mark of the second period on December 7, the last power-play goal Dallas has allowed.
Dallas, 4-12-2 on the road, will host Nashville on Friday after the Christmas break.
Carolina, meanwhile, has won its last two on the heels of a two-game losing streak (0-1-0-1). On Saturday the Canes managed a 2-1 win in Boston. Radim Vrbata and Eric Staal tallied goals and Kevin Weekes made 36 saves to back the triumph.
Weekes stopped seven shots in the first period, 14 in the second and 15 in the third as Carolina improved to 4-2-1-2 in its last nine games overall.
The Canes, 3-0-3-1 in their last seven home matches, will visit Buffalo on Friday.
Carolina and Dallas split two meetings last season, each club winning in its own rink. The home team is 8-0-2 in the last 10 meetings.
