NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, November 22nd (All times eastern)

Columbus Blue Jackets (8-8-3) at Atlanta Thrashers (7-9-2), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers will try to get back on the winning track tonight when they welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets for an interconference matchup at Philips Arena.

Atlanta recently tied a franchise-record with five straight wins, but had that streak snapped last Sunday in Philadelphia. The Thrashers then returned home for Thursday's encounter with Pittsburgh and were handed another setback. Both regulation losses were by a single goal.

Petr Sykora's power-play goal late in the third period was the difference in Thursday's test, as the Penguins topped Atlanta, 3-2.

Slava Kozlov and Jim Slater tallied for the Thrashers, while Ondrej Pavelec stopped 28 shots in defeat.

Kozlov has registered a goal in three straight games and has recorded a point in eight of his last nine contests. The veteran forward has 17 points this year and is tied with Bryan Little for the team scoring lead.

Little was held pointless in the recent loss to have his point streak halted at six games.

The Thrashers, who are 5-4-0 as the host this season, had a three-game home winning streak snapped in Thursday's contest.

The Blue Jackets have lost two straight and three of their last four games and were handed a blowout loss their last time on the ice. Columbus outshot visiting Edmonton by a 39-19 margin on Tuesday, but lost the game, 7-2. Dwayne Roloson made 37 saves and Shawn Horcoff had a goal and two assists to lift the Oilers.

Pascal Leclaire allowed all seven goals on a mere 19 shots for Columbus, while Kristian Huselius and Rick Nash each recorded a goal in the loss.

Columbus has dropped two of its last three road games and is just 3-4-2 as the visiting team this season.

The home team has won the last four meetings in this series after the Blue Jackets' 2-0 win as the host last year against the Thrashers. Atlanta has lost two straight and three of its last four in Columbus.
