NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Tuesday, November 11th (All times eastern)

Ottawa Senators (6-6-2) at Montreal Canadiens (8-2-2), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Montreal Canadiens will try to avoid a third consecutive loss when they welcome the Ottawa Senators for a Northeast Division clash at the Bell Centre.

The Canadiens have dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season, losing in Columbus on Friday evening before getting handed another setback the following night in Toronto.

The setback to the Blue Jackets came in a shootout, but the Maple Leafs were able to post a 6-3 victory over the rival Habs. Niklas Hagman scored twice, as Toronto rolled over past Montreal in the annual Hall of Fame Game.

Saku Koivu, Robert Lang and Tomas Plekanec each scored once for Montreal, which had won eight of nine before this two-game slide.

Carey Price gave up all six goals on 41 shots in the loss for the Canadiens, who finished a four-game road trip with a 2-1-1 mark.

Montreal hasn't dropped three straight games since February 7-12 of last season.

The Habs are 4-1-0 as the host team this year, but after tonight's test, they'll play four of their next five games on the road.

Ottawa had a two-game winning streak snapped its last time out Friday at Carolina. Former Senator Joe Corvo netted the game-winning goal with 2:40 remaining in the third period and added an assist to lift the Hurricanes to the 2-1 decision at the RBC Center.

Mike Fisher lit the lamp for Ottawa, while Martin Gerber allowed two goals on 30 shots to take the loss.

The Sens are 3-2-1 as the visiting team this year and are wrapping up a brief two-game swing tonight.

This is the first of six meetings between the Habs and Sens this year. Montreal won the last two encounters of the 2007-08 season, but Ottawa has taken eight of the last 11 in the series. The Canadiens have come out on top in two of the previous three matchups at the Bell Centre.
