NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Vancouver
(Thursday, December 20th)
Final Score: Vancouver 3, Dallas 2
Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Daniel Sedin scored a pair of goals and Roberto Luongo made 33 saves and had an assist to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars at General Motors Place.
Mattias Ohlund added two assists and Mason Raymond scored for the Canucks, who have won two in a row.
Jussi Jokinen and Antti Miettinen each scored for the Stars, who had a four- game win streak come to an end. Marty Turco made 27 saves for Dallas, which has lost three straight in Vancouver.
After Raymond's goal broke a scoreless contest eight minutes into the second period, the action finally picked up in the third.
Just 3:07 into the third, Sedin put the Canucks up 2-0 when he took a Markus Naslund pass from the right-side boards and from in front tapped the puck past Turco.
Dallas cut the deficit in half just over three minutes later, as Jokinen beat an out-of-position Luongo. Niklas Hagman beat Luongo to the puck along the boards behind the net, hit Loui Eriksson with a pass in the right circle and Eriksson pushed a pass to Jokinen, who just had to tap in the puck to the open net.
Vancouver, though, regained the two-goal lead when Sedin knocked home the rebound of an Ohlund shot from the left point on the power play with 10:05 left.
Dallas made it interesting, however, as Miettinen scored off a rebound of a Brenden Morrow shot on the power play with 7:44 remaining.
But that would be it for the Stars.
Vancouver went 1-for-3 on the power play...Dallas went 1-for-5 with the man advantage...This was the first time these two teams have met since Game 7 of last year's Western Conference quarterfinals. Vancouver won that game, 4-1, at home.
