Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Shawn Horcoff scored in the fifth round of the shootout to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 5-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks at Rexall Place.
After Mathieu Garon made a left pad save on Brad Isbister, Horcoff skated in and snapped a low wrister that banged off the left post and in for the win.

Alexander Edler and Markus Naslund both tallied a goal and an assist while Roberto Luongo made 25 saves for the Canucks, who had won five of six coming into the game.
Edmonton controlled play in the early part of the contest and took a 1-0 lead on the power play. However, Sanderson got the puck back and again flicked it out front where Gilbert tapped it in just 2:35 in.
The Oilers increased their lead to 2-0 as Kyle Brodziak picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, skated to the right circle and sent the puck on goal where Marty Reasoner knocked it in as he was crashing the net with 5:28 to play in the first.
Vancouver got on the board with a short-handed goal as Alexandre Burrows skated in on a breakaway and slid a backhander in with 1:18 left.
However, the Oilers had an answer as Horcoff picked up a loose puck and from the right circle flicked a wrister in with just 13 seconds to go in the first.
Vancouver struck quickly in the second period as Ryan Kesler skated into the Edmonton zone and left a drop pass to Isbister, who wristed a shot from the right circle that beat Garon just 44 seconds in to make it a 3-2 contest.
The Canucks tied the game with 4:15 left in the second as Edler threw a shot on net that squeaked over the goal line as Daniel Sedin was tangled with Garon in front.
Vancouver took a 4-3 lead with a power-play tally. Brendan Morrison had the puck along the left boards and sent a cross-ice pass to Naslund, who blasted a one-timer over the left shoulder of Garon with 12:26 to play.
However, Edmonton tied the contest less than a minute later. On the power play, a left circle faceoff win resulted in Ales Hemsky with the puck at the top of the left circle. Hemsky slid the disc down low to Horcoff, who one- touched the pass to the center for Dustin Penner's one-timer that beat Luongo through the five-hole.
