Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Tomas Vokoun stopped 26 shots to record his fifth shutout of the season, as Nashville cruised past Edmonton, 4-0 at Rexall Place.
Peter Forsberg picked up a pair of assists for the Predators, who have dropped four of five and six of nine. Alexander Radulov and Vernon Fiddler had a goal and an assist each, while Shea Weber and Ryan Suter also tallied.
Nashville moves into a tie with Buffalo for best overall record in the NHL. Each team has 103 points.
Jussi Markkanen made 22 saves for the Oilers, who have lost 13 of their last 14 games.
The Predators took a 1-0 lead at 4:28 into the opening period. Fiddler's point drive bounced to Forsberg on right side, but he lost control back into the slot, where Radulov moved up on the puck and scored to the far side.
The visitors added two goals in a 25-second span in the second period to open up a three-goal lead. Weber notched his 16th goal of the season on a power play, and Suter followed with his eighth of the year on the next shift.
Fiddler made it a 4-0 lead for the Preds when he streaked down the left side and uncorked a slapper that zipped by Markkanen cleanly at 2:38 of the third.
Edmonton's Marty Reasoner had the best shot to break the shutout with under two minutes remaining, but Vokoun closed the pads and turned the chance aside, the last of only six Oilers shots in the final 20 minutes.
Nashville has won all three meetings this season...The Predators improved to 19-4-2 in Saturday games this year...Vokoun has 21 career shutouts...Edmonton has been blanked eight times this season, the most in franchise history.
