Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Shawn Horcoff had a goal and an assist to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at Rexall Place.
Dwayne Roloson allowed just one goal on 33 shots for the Oilers, who have won two of their last three games.
Martin Havlat netted the lone goal for the Blackhawks, who were aiming to win their third straight contest. Nikolai Khabibulin finished with 30 saves in defeat.
The Oilers grabbed a 1-0 lead at 4:29 of the opening period after Raffi Torres blasted a slap shot from the left circle past Khabibulin on the far side. The goal was Torres' 11th of the season.
After a scoreless middle session, the Oilers went up 2-0 after Horcoff tallied 3:04 into the final frame. On the power play, Horcoff battled for a loose puck in front and rammed the disc over the goal line before being checked from behind.
Down two goals and failing to generate many quality scoring chances, Chicago pulled Khabibulin for an extra skater with just under three minutes to play.
With under a minute to play, the Blackhawks went on the power play and with Khabibulin still on the bench, Havlat cranked a slap shot that beat a screened Roloson with just 32 seconds left.
Horcoff has five points in the last three games...Chicago has lost three straight and five of its last six at Edmonton...The Blackhawks outshot the Oilers, 33-32...Edmonton went 1-for-2 on the power play while Chicago finished 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
