Final Score: Boston 4, Carolina 3 (OT)

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Zdeno Chara scored the game-winning goal 1:49 into overtime to lift the Boston Bruins over the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 at RBC Center.

Glenn Murray added a pair of goals for the Bruins, who overcame a 2-0 deficit and then blew a one-goal lead before coming out victorious in overtime. Chara also had a pair of assists for Boston, which ended a five-game slide and won for just the fourth time in 16 outings.

Murray cut the deficit to 2-1 just 30 seconds into the period, recording his 25th goal of the season as the Bruins were on the power play. Brad Boyes then tied the game with only 53 seconds left in the period to set up the third- period theatrics. Boyes broke into the offensive zone and on the breakaway beat Ward high with a wrister.

Murray gave Boston its first lead of the game 6:38 into the stanza, as he one- timed a rebound of a Chara shot by Cam Ward from the left slot.

Carolina, though, took advantage of a 5-on-3 penalty later in the period to tie the game. Rod Brind'Amour, camped in the left slot, took a cross-ice pass from Ray Whitney and beat a vulnerable Tim Thomas to tie the contest with 3:12 left.

In overtime, on the power play, Marc Savard skated to the top of the left circle, sent a pass over to Chara at the top of the right circle and the big defender one-timed a slap per past Ward.

The man advantage was set up when Eric Staal was sent off for tripping.
