St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Manny Legace made 22 saves for his fourth shutout of the season, as the St. Louis Blues beat the Dallas Stars, 2-0, at Scottrade Center.
Martin Rucinsky and Keith Tkachuk scored the goals for the Blues, who ended a three-game slide. Doug Weight added a pair of assists for St. Louis, which has won five of eight.
Marty Turco made 17 saves for the Stars, who had a two-game win streak halted and ended a four-game road trip 2-2.
The Blues started the scoring in the first period when Rucinsky wristed a shot from the top of the right circle that beat Turco glove side. The goal came just 6:11 into the contest and was assisted by Peter Sejna and Weight.
After a scoreless second stanza, St. Louis doubled its lead 11:10 into the third. From behind the net, Bill Guerin sent a pass across the crease to Tkachuk at the right slot and the forward easily beat Turco for a 2-0 cushion. Weight also recorded an assist on the goal, which came on the power play.
Dallas appeared to break the shutout with 38 seconds left, but the goal was called off because the Stars had too many men on the ice.
St. Louis beat Dallas for just the seventh time in nine meetings...The two teams have split a pair of meetings this season...Legace registered his 17th career shutout...Dallas ended 0-of-2 on the power play...St. Louis finished 1- of-3...This was the start of a three-game homestand for the Blues.
