NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Dallas

(Friday, April 6th)

Final Score: Dallas 2, Anaheim 1 (SO)

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Ladislav Nagy's goal in the fourth round of the shootout sent Dallas to a 2-1 victory over Anaheim at American Airlines Center.

Brenden Morrow tallied for the Stars, who broke a two-game slide. Marty Turco made 21 saves to earn the win.

Dallas has 105 points on the year with one game remaining, moving just a point behind second-place San Jose and three points behind Anaheim in the Pacific Division.

Teemu Selanne notched his 46th goal of the season for the Ducks, who have lost two in a row following a three-game win streak. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 29 shots in defeat.

Nagy skated straight in on Bryzgalov and let a rising wrister go, and when the shot hit the tip of the Anaheim netminder's glove, it sailed into the air and bounced into the net. Corey Perry had a shot to continue the game for the Ducks, but Turco stretched his left pad enough to stop the shot and seal up two points for the Stars.

Anaheim could not lock up the Pacific Division title despite the point earned in the loss, giving them 108. San Jose is two points back of the Ducks for the Pacific Division crown, and both teams have one game to play.

After 35 minutes of scoreless action, the Stars had a golden chance to break the deadlock late in the second period when Ryan Getzlaf and Chris Pronger went to the penalty box within a 42 second span, but could not come close to the net with a five-on-three power play.

Anaheim capitalized off the kill and grabbed a 1-0 lead with 1:19 remaining in the period as Selanne's wrister from the edge of the left circle beat Turco low to the short side.

With the extra attacker on in the final minute of regulation, Mike Modano missed a potential tying goal into a half-open net with 54 seconds left on a shot from the inner edge of the right circle.

However, the Stars kept plugging away and Morrow tied the game with 6.1 on the clock by tipping home Nagy's desperate centering feed from the right boards.
