St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Manny Legace cast aside all 33 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season and anchor St. Louis' 2-0 win over Colorado.
Legace was tested each period en route to improving to 5-0-1 in his last six starts. He turned aside 12 shots in the first, kept Colorado out of the net on four power plays in the second, and then stopped 13 shots in the third.
Keith Tkachuk and Lee Stempniak both scored power-play goals for the Blues, who won their third straight home game and have a modest two-game overall winning streak.
In 10 games under new head coach Andy Murray, St. Louis has yet to allow a first-period goal.
Peter Budaj made 20 saves for the Avalanche, who have lost three in a row.
Tkachuk put the Blues ahead 1-0 with a power-play goal at 7:37 of the first when he corralled the puck to the right of the net before wristing a shot past Budaj from in close for his 10th goal of the season.
The Blues again struck on the power play, this time in the second frame as Stempniak unleashed a one-timer from the top of the left circle with 2:56 remaining in the frame. It was his 11th tally of the season.
Radek Dvorak assisted on Tkachuk's goal and has six points in his last six games...Colorado's Joe Sakic remained one point behind Paul Coffey for 10th on the NHL's all-time scoring list. Sakic has 1,530 career points...St. Louis finished 2-for-8 on the man advantage.
