NHL Game Summary - San Jose at St. Louis

(Tuesday, November 28th)

Final Score: San Jose 2, St. Louis 0

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Vesa Toskala made 29 saves to post his second shutout of the season as the San Jose Sharks upended the St. Louis Blues, 2-0, at Scottrade Center.

Ryane Clowe and Joe Pavelski each had a goal for the Sharks, who have won three straight and five of their last seven.

"We got two points, that's the most important thing," said Toskala. "This is a good way to start this last road trip before we're home for almost two months."

San Jose played the game without wingers Milan Michalek and Jonathan Cheechoo, both of whom are on the injured reserve list.

Manny Legace stopped 25 shots for the Blues, who have dropped their past two games.

"We're not overly confident right now," said Blues coach Mike Kitchen. "We've struggled to score goals all year. Right now we're really squeezing the sticks It just seems like we can't hang on to the puck and we can't make a play."

The Sharks took a 1-0 lead just 2:15 into the game when Clowe banged the puck into the net off a rebound from a left point shot by Curtis Brown.

Toskala was busy in the first period, keeping the Blues at bay by stopping all 12 shots he faced.

San Jose again struck quickly as a little over one minute into the second period Pavelski slapped a shot through a screen and into the left corner of the net for his second goal of the season for a 2-0 lead.

Toskala continued to hold down the fort with a 10 save performance in the middle stanza.

San Jose's defense clamped down in the final 20 minutes and limited St. Louis to just seven shots on the net, none of which were quality chances.
