NHL Game Summary - New Jersey at Phoenix

(Wednesday, November 22nd)

Final Score: Phoenix 3, New Jersey 1

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Dave Scratchard scored the go-ahead goal and added an assist to guide the Phoenix Coyotes past the New Jersey Devils, 3-1, at Jobing.com Arena.

Derek Morris and Owen Nolan also scored while Curtis Joseph stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced for the Coyotes, who snapped a two-game skid.

John Madden had his team's lone goal and Martin Brodeur came up with 24 saves for New Jersey, which had won six of its last seven coming in.

Phoenix opened up the scoring with 6:43 to play in the first on an even- strength goal by Morris.

The Devils tied it at 1-1 early in the second thanks to a bouncing puck in front that Madden touched last before a defender inadvertently kicked it into his own net.

The Coyotes, though, bounced back with two straight tallies in the second to reclaim command.

The first came at the 4:30 mark, as Ed Jovanovski zipped the puck down low to Scratchard, who redirected it past Brodeur.

Nolan then scored a shorthanded marker midway through the second to make it 3-1. Scratchard gained possession of the puck along the right wall before dishing the disc out in front, where Nolan slid it underneath Brodeur for his fourth goal of the year.

Joseph kept the Devils off the board the rest of the way to preserve the win.
