NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Florida

(Tuesday, December 12th)

Final Score: Anaheim 5, Florida 4

Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Chris Pronger scored two goals, including the game-winner as Anaheim escaped with a 5-4 victory over Florida at BankAtlantic Center.

Corey Perry finished with a goal and two assists and Scott Niedermayer added a pair of helpers for the Ducks, who have won four straight games. Ryan Getzlaf and Francois Beauchemin rounded out the scoring for Anaheim.

"We got timely goals. They [Florida] played well. They were aggressive," Niedermayer said. "They made it pretty tough on us with their forecheck, getting the puck deep and working it in our zone. We probably were lucky getting the win."

Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who has won his last eight starts, made 27 saves and earned his 20th win of the season. This is the fourth time in the past five seasons that Giguere has reached the 20-win plateau.

Drew Larman, Nathan Horton, Jay Bouwmeester and Ruslan Salei each tallied for the Panthers, who have dropped three in a row. Alex Auld stopped 26 of the 31 shots he faced.

"They're good from top to bottom," Florida's Chris Gratton said. "Obviously, with their two big defensemen, they make it tough to play against them. If you take any undisciplined penalties they make you pay for it. They did that tonight. We had a good effort but again we came up short."

After Florida came back from a two-goal deficit to tie the game, 4-4, the Ducks answered right back and took the lead with nine minutes left on Pronger's second goal -- a slap shot from beyond the left circle after Anaheim won a faceoff in its offensive zone.

Larman put the Panthers up 1-0 with a slap shot from 32-feet away 2:25 into the first period. David Booth and Martin Gelinas assisted the goal.

Just over seven minutes later, Anaheim knotted the contest. Niedermayer hit Perry with a great lead pass at center ice, and flicked a wrister right between Auld's pads.

The Ducks took a 2-1 edge at the 2:59 mark in the second on Getzlaf's goal. From the right side, Ryan Shannon centered the disc to Getzlaf, who one-timed it home past Auld's stick side.

Florida, though, tied the game when Horton tallied with 6:28 remaining. Horton corraled the puck at the left circle and as he was being tripped up in the back, he flipped the disc in the upper right side of the net.

Less than two minutes later, Beauchemin gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead after he skated up the left side and blasted a 50-foot slap shot from the left circle over Auld's glove.

Pronger's power-play goal off assists from Dustin Penner and Perry put Anaheim up 4-2 at the 3:34 mark in the third, but the Panthers scored two goals in the next three minutes to knot the game at four.

One minute, 22 seconds after the Pronger goal, Bouwmeester fired a slap shot through traffic and past the glove side of Giguere. Then, from behind the net, Jokinen fed the puck to Salei, who sent a snap shot over Giguere's glove.
