NHL Game Summary - Nashville at Anaheim

(Wednesday, December 6th)

Final Score: Anaheim 4, Nashville 0

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 21 saves and Teemu Selanne netted two goals and added an assist as the Anaheim Ducks blanked the Nashville Predators, 4-0, at the Honda Center.

Giguere recorded his fourth shutout of the season for the Ducks, who have six wins over their last seven games. Chris Kunitz had a goal and three assists in the victory while Ryan Getzlaf also scored.

"This was a good example of a total team effort," Giguere said. "Everybody did their job as well as they could."

Chris Mason allowed four goals on 32 shots for the Predators, who have lost three straight.

With 57 seconds left in the opening period, Selanne scored on a breakaway to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead. Andy McDonald's pass from the neutral zone sprung Selanne into the Nashville zone and from in close, the Finnish forward lifted the puck past Mason's glove.

Anaheim went up 2-0 after Getzlaf tallied his 13th goal of the season at 9:43 of the second. Kunitz skated into the Nashville zone along the left boards and centered the puck in front to Getzlaf, who backhanded the disc past Mason.

Midway through the final frame, Selanne's second goal of the contest made it 3-0. On the power play, Kunitz, who was stationed at the right circle, fired a pass to a streaking Selanne, who backhanded the disc past a sliding Mason at the left side of the crease.

Kunitz scored his 15th goal of the season at 15:04 of the third to give Anaheim a four-goal lead. Selanne attempted a backhander at the left side of the crease and the puck kicked out to Kunitz in front and he roofed the disc under the crossbar.

The Ducks tightened up defensively the rest of the way and preserved Giguere's shutout by allowing just six shots on goal in the third period.
