NHL Game Summary - Vancouver at Colorado

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Marek Svatos scored two goals, including the game winner late in the third period, to give Colorado its first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over Vancouver.
Jose Theodore made 26 saves and Brett Clark finished with two assists for the Avalanche, who lost their first two games of the season in overtime.
The Avs went 3-for-8 on the power play and did not allow a power-play goal against in the win.
Markus Naslund scored a goal and added an assist for the Canucks, who were looking to win their first three games of the season for the first time since the 1999-00 campaign.
Roberto Luongo allowed three goals on 35 shots in his first loss as a member of the Canucks.
With the game knotted at 2-2, the Avalanche scored on the power-play with 5:44 left in the contest to take the lead. Andrew Brunette's wrist shot from the left circle was kicked out by Luongo, but in front, Svatos grabbed the rebound and slid the puck through the legs of the goaltender to make it 3-2.
"Hopefully the pucks will start going in for me," said Svatos. "I am just trying to score every game to help the team win."
Vancouver had a power-play opportunity late in the contest, but could not generate any quality scoring chances on Theodore.
With less than a minute remaining in the game, Vancouver pulled Luongo for an extra attacker, but could not net the equalizer.
The Canucks went up 1-0 early scoring 5:57 into the game. Lukas Krajicek's shot was stopped in tight by Theodore, but at the left side of the crease, Daniel Sedin backhanded the rebound over the glove of Theodore for the goal.
Colorado tied the game at 1-1 on a power-play tally by Wojtek Wolski with 7:18 left in the first period. After a scrum in front of Luongo for a loose puck, Wolski pounced on the disc and lifted it into the net.
"They have some skilled players and they work hard and crash the net," said Luongo. "They work really hard in tight and make things difficult."
The Avalanche went up 2-1 cashing in on the power play 2:48 into the second stanza. Joe Sakic controlled the puck behind the Vancouver net and dished the disc out in front to Svatos, who buried the puck between the pads of Luongo.
With just 36.9 seconds left in the second period, Vancouver tied the game at 2-2 on a goal by Naslund. From the left half-wall, Henrik Sedin centered the puck to Naslund in the slot and his wrister beat Theodore to the stick side.
Sakic finished with two assists for Colorado...Paul Stastny recorded his first point in the NHL with an assist on Wolski's goal in the first period...Vancouver failed to score on five chances with the man advantage...Naslund has two goals and two assists on the young season.
