NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Los Angeles

(Saturday, January 28th)

Final Score: Anaheim 6, Los Angeles 2

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Corey Perry had two goals and an assist as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim dropped Los Angeles, 6-2, at the Staples Center in the first of a home-and-home series.

Scott Niedermayer added a goal and two assists while netminder Ilya Bryzgalov made 30 saves for Anaheim, which has won two straight games.

Michael Cammalleri netted two goals and Craig Conroy had a pair of helpers for the Kings, who have dropped three in a row and six of their last eight.

Mathieu Garon was pulled in the second period after allowing five goals on 21 shots. Jason LaBarbera took over from there and made 11 saves.

Cammalleri's rebound putback gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead 2:07 into the contest, but the Mighty Ducks finished off the frame with three straight goals to take control.

Joffrey Lupul evened the game less than a minute after Cammalleri lit the lamp, slipping behind the Kings defense before elevating the puck past Garon for the first of four power-play tallies by the Ducks.

"Our work ethic was there. We got the opportunity on the power play and took advantage of them," said Anaheim head coach Randy Carlyle.

Perry put the Ducks ahead with a rebound goal at the nine-minute mark, and Ryan Getzlaf's one-timer in front made it 3-1 after 20 minutes.

Chris Kunitz kept the scoring surge going in the second, as he found himself wide open in front of the net and deked Garon before lifting a backhander over the netminder's left shoulder just 54 seconds in.

Garon was pulled moments later after Perry redirected a shot into the back of the net to make it 5-1.

The Ducks quickly solved his replacement, however, as Niedermayer beat LaBarbera with a snapshot from between the circles at the 7:35 mark of the second.

Cammalleri netted his second goal of the night on a rebound putback from the right slot 4:48 into the third period to cut the Kings' deficit to 6-2, But Los Angeles would get no closer.
