Final Score: Vancouver 5, Colorado 2

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Markus Naslund scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Vancouver Canucks past the Colorado Avalanche, 5-2, at GM Place.

Todd Bertuzzi notched his 400th point as a Canuck with an assist and Richard Park recorded his 100th career point with a helper.

Sami Salo added two assists and Alexander Auld saved 30 shots in net for Vancouver, which snapped a two-game slide. Brendan Morrison scored the tie- breaking goal late in the second period.

Joe Sakic had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, who had a three-game winning streak halted. Alex Tanguay also scored in the loss, while David Aebischer stopped 39 of 44 shots.

Tanguay made it 2-2, 7:54 into the second with an assist from Rob Blake but the Canucks fired back again, this time with three straight goals, to close out the game.

Two Colorado defenders collided just outside of their zone late in the second, allowing Morrison to speed in unabated and score a backhanded breakaway goal to make it 3-2.

Vancouver doubled the lead at 5:25 of the third, as Jarkko Ruutu redirected Nolan Baumgartner's shot from the point past Aebischer.

Naslund put the game away with a backhanded flip from the left slot with just under six minutes to play.

"We knew they were going to come out hungry and they did that," said Sakic. "We got off to an early start, but they were coming. That's exactly what we expected."

Sakic lit the lamp 1:52 into the contest to give Colorado a short-lived lead, but Vancouver responded with a back-to-back tallies to a assume a 2-1 advantage.

Josh Green scored on a breakaway midway through the frame, deking right as raced in on goal before returning to his forehand and stuffing the puck into the left side of the net.

Just 1:30 later, Salo took a slapshot that got deflected and trickled into the left slot for Daniel Sedin, who punched the puck into the short side at the 12:52 mark.
