NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Dallas

(Wednesday, November 23rd)

Final Score: Dallas 3, Anaheim 1

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Jason Arnott scored two goals in the third period as the Dallas Stars skated past the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, 3-1, at American Airlines Center.

Bill Guerin added three assists for 11 helpers on the year for the Stars, who are riding a five-game winning streak. Brenden Morrow also scored in the win.

Marty Turco was solid in goal with 20 saves, as Dallas improved to a league- best 14-1 this season when allowing four goals or less.

Teemu Selanne scored the lone goal for Anaheim, which has one win in the last 10 games.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 24-of-27 shots for the Ducks, who have lost four straight games to Dallas.

Bryzgalov was starting in place of goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who was placed on injured reserve earlier in the day with a tweaked hamstring.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the third period, the Stars took a 2-1 lead after Arnott scored at the 7:24 mark.

Arnott deflected a Philippe Boucher blast from the point past Bryzgalov's glove for his ninth goal of the season.

Arnott gave Dallas some breathing room with a 3-1 edge, scoring his second goal of the period with around three minutes to play. On the power play, Arnott slammed home a rebound after Bryzgalov stopped Martin Skoula's wrist shot from the blue line.

The Ducks had a dismal third period and only managed to get three shots on goal. For the majority of the third period, Dallas was in the offensive zone and limited Anaheim from generating any offense.

Selanne opened the scoring late in the first period, netting his 12th goal of the season at the 15:17 mark. Joe DiPenta hit Selanne in the neutral zone with an outlet pass and the star winger beat Turco low stick side for the 1-0 Anaheim lead.

At 6:25 of the second period, Dallas tied it up at 1-1 after Morrow scored on the power play.

From the point, Trevor Daley hit Guerin down low with a pass to the left side of the net. Guerin then found Morrow all alone on the right side of the goal, and Morrow easily one-timed the puck past Bryzgalov.

Midway through the second period, Turco kept the game knotted at 1-1 after robbing Selanne with a left pad save. Selanne was wide open down low after a turnover by Sergei Zubov.
